This morning I listened to a single mom cry about how hard life has become, and her voice stayed with me long after she spoke.
She told me she gets only R2,800 rand a month to support herself and her two children, one who is 19 and has already left school, and the other who is 18.
She is carrying everything alone, from the home to the daily needs
.
Even the family property depends on her, and two brothers live there too, yet they do not help carry the burden.
With such a small income, it is impossible to manage everything, and still she keeps trying.
Hearing her cry touched something deep in me.
It brought back memories I had buried away, memories of worry, exhaustion, and the quiet shame of not having enough.
I felt her pain, not as an observer, but as someone who knows what it means to keep going while your heart is breaking.
My Own Journey
I remember when I was a single mom too, with two kids in school and a salary that was far too little to stretch through the month.
Every bill felt heavier than the last, and every day seemed to ask for more than I had to give.
There were moments when I did not know how I would make it, but faith carried me when nothing else could.

Walking in faith was not just a phrase to me  — it was survival.
I still remember how difficult it was for me to learn to walk in faith, and the circumstances that God used to teach me, how to do the faith walk.

 The tears were there.
I would wipe my face, breathe deeply, and keep moving because my children needed me to believe for all of us.
That season taught me that strength is not always loud; sometimes it is simply refusing to give up.

The Weight Single Mothers Carry
There are so many single mothers
carrying whole worlds on tired shoulders, trying to make ends meet with too little and too much at the same time.
They wake up thinking about school fees, food, rent, transport, and every small thing that can fall apart if they do not hold it together.
What hurts most is not only the lack, but the loneliness of carrying everything alone.

God Sees the Tears No One Else Sees.  No one sees the private tears, the sleepless nights, or the quiet prayers said in the dark.
And yet they rise again, because love pushes them forward even when the circumstances feel impossible.
That kind of strength is holy, even when it is born in exhaustion.
This morning reminded me, that pain can recognize pain, and one crying mother can awaken the memory of another.

Faith That Carries Us Forward
Her story and mine met in that honest place where survival, faith, and perseverance live together.
I know what it means to keep standing when the money is too little and the tears are too many.
And I want every single mom
to know that she is not forgotten, not unseen, and not alone.

A Prayer for Single Moms
May we keep walking in faith, even through tears, and may hope find us again and again
